The Brazilian has made just three appearances for United in 2025 and was desperate to leave the club after admitting she was not enjoying her time there. She has spent some time on compassionate leave after the death of her brother in January. On Monday, Gotham announced the one-year loan deal that includes an option for a permanent move.

Geyse revealed her unhappiness at the club earlier this month, writing on Instagram that "staying in a place where we don't feel happy is an agonising and lonely feeling". Her agent Luis Filipe Silva had previously accused the club of trying to loan her out while she was at her brother's funeral.
Silva said earlier this month "As you know, her brother passed away, she is going through a very difficult time, it is a very difficult time psychologically and at Man United she is not having the best time. The club has clearly shown that it does not count on Geyse. The best solution for all parties is to leave, Man United was the first to try to loan the player when she was at her brother's funeral."
WHAT GEYSE SAID
After completing her switch to the United States, Geyse said: "I am very happy and excited to join Gotham FC for this season. I chose Gotham FC because they have a winning profile and a lot of ambition to win titles. I can’t wait to wear this jersey and enjoy the field with my new teammates."
