Tottenham have confirmed that defender Michael Dawson will miss the remainder of the season through injury.
The England international picked up a nasty knock in the side’s 3-1 win over Stevenage in midweek, in another setback for the injury-prone centre half.
After scans and further analysis, the White Hart Lane club have confirmed the worst.
“Scans taken this morning have determined that Michael Dawson is likely to be absent for a period of 10-12 weeks,” a statement on the club’s official website stated.
“The central defender was stretchered off in the first half of the FA Cup tie against Stevenage, with it now confirmed that he suffered a ruptured ligament in his right ankle.”
The news will be a blow to Harry Redknapp, who has seen his defence leak eight goals in their last two games.
Dawson had an outside chance of inclusion in England’s Euro 2012 squad, but a frustrating season on the sidelines now means that defender will not travel to Ukraine and Poland.
