As reported by TransferMarketWeb, Manchester United are interested in signing one of Serie A side Roma’s top prospect next year.
What’s the story?
Manchester United haven’t been shy in the transfer market over the last couple of seasons, spending big on players like Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba. However, just as important is securing the stars of the future and it seems that’s exactly what the club are trying to do.
Transfermarketweb report that the Red Devils are interested in signing Mirko Antonucci, an 18-year-old prospect who has yet to even make an appearance for the first-team.
To get him though, the Red Devils will have to fend off interest from the likes of Lazio and Inter Milan according the report.
A positive is they would likely get him for just a compensation fee, with his current contract due to run out next summer.
Who is he?
While he’s not yet made an impact in Serie A, Antonucci has impressed for Roma’s youth sides and is also making a splash on the international scene.
He’s represented the Italians at four age groups up to U18, making 22 appearances for his country at youth level. That highlights his potential as a future star of the game and if he’s being linked with the likes of Manchester United, he must have something about him.
He can apparantly play on either wing, which in time could help United’s attack, which has sometimes lacked width under Jose Mourinho.
Will he be the next big thing at Old Trafford?
