U.S. international Cameron Carter-Vickers has been ruled out of Celtic's match against Borussia Dortmund Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League due to a lingering toe injury.
The Hoops' defender has missed their last two matches due the knock, and he has not recovered in time for the UCL clash. In his stead will be another USMNT defender in Auston Trusty, who is expected to replace him in the starting XI for the match.
Trusty signed for the Scottish side from English club Sheffield United late in the August transfer window, and has started their last two Scottish Premiership matches in place of Carter-Vickers.

Speaking in his pre-match media press conference, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed Carter-Vickers would miss the match, but hopes that he will be able to return before the weekend.
“Cam is not available. We’ll see what he’s like going into next weekend, but he’s not here for this on," Rodgers said. “Clearly he’s a top-class player for us and he’s missed a little bit of Champions League football I think in his time, five of the 12 games the club has played he has unfortunately not been able to play in."
“But we have other players. It’s always an opportunity for somebody else to come in and hopefully we can get Cam back sooner rather than later. But we can’t overthink it. We will rely on the collective. There’s not one player that brings our results and how we have been this season. Of course he’s a very important player, Cam, but for us to get a result it will be about the collective.”
With the injury, there are now questions if the 26-year-old will be fit for the October camp with the USMNT when they take on both Mexico and Panama in a series of international friendlies.
DID YOU KNOW?
Carter-Vickers started Celtic's UCL opener against Slovan Bratislava in September, a 5-1 victory to begin their campaign on a bright note. Trusty made hic UCL debut, replacing his USMNT teammate in the 85th minute of the clash.
WHAT NEXT FOR CELTIC AND CCV?
The Hoops will play the Black and Yellow Tuesday in Dortmund. Fellow U.S. international Gio Reyna has been ruled out of the match for the Bundesliga side, with the young attacker picking up a groin injury in September that's kept him sidelined since.
Trusty, meanwhile, will look to replace his teammate against a talented BVB side.
