As reported by The Daily Mirror, Marouane Fellaini is set to be offered a new contract by Manchester United.
What’s the story?
Fellaini has become an unlikely fan favourite at Old Trafford after stringing together excellent performances under manager Jose Mourinho, but his future at the club is still unclear with his contract running out at the end of the season.
However, The Mirror say that the Red Devils are confident they can sign him up to a new contract and they’re set to offer him a new deal before he can speak to other clubs on January 1st.
The paper reckon that the Old Trafford side will likely offer the midfielder a two year deal, with the option of a third.
Proving himself
There’s no doubt that the Belgian international has had a long, hard road to prove himself at Old Trafford, but his importance to Jose Mourinho’s team both now and in the future is undeniable.
He really came onto a game last season, making 47 appearances for the club in all competitions and becoming integral to Mourinho’s midfield, and that’s given him the confidence to take his contribution to the next level this term, already netting four goals.
This turnaround in form from the dark days a few seasons ago to now makes him worth a new contract at the club, with his manager seemingly getting the kind of form out of him that won him his move to the club in the first place.
