Thuram sparks ire among Inter fans

The build-up featured a potential foul by Khephren Thuram on Yoan Bonny, which was reviewed by VAR before the goal was upheld. During the review, Marcus was spotted laughing with his brother, igniting outrage among Inter fans, who have since flooded social media calling for him to be dropped from the squad.

Former Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia has clarified that all Marcus did was ask his brother Khephren to admit to the referee it was a foul, saying on : "The source isn't revealed, but I know that Thuram simply told his brother: 'Tell the truth, you committed a foul.' And the brothers burst into laughter. That's all there is to it."
His claim was backed up by Italian media, who claimed Thuram did indeed say something along those lines.
Inter coach Christian Chivu said: "I didn't see it, I don't know, I don't know the context, I don't know if anything happened. But let's stop arguing, it doesn't do anyone any good."
Thuram avoids punishment at Inter
The Inter star was initially subject to an internal investigation by Inter, reports. However, he was able to convince his teammates, coach, and management that he had simply been joking with Khephren to admit to his foul to the referee. In the end, all parties were satisfied, and Marcus was cleared of any wrongdoing.
